Shipping worldwide, LocoSkates is extremely proud to present ‘The Valo Roll’. A world exclusive, the Valo Roll is the first European Valo/shop collaboration and only available at LocoSkates.com.
The concept was simple, take our best selling model of skate and our best selling model of frame and put our own twist on it to create something highly recognisable without being garish! The yellow/grey colourway was our first choice. Based on the massively popular Valo TV.2 boot the Valo Roll combines the ultimate combination of support, solidity, comfort and quality; a truly top-end skate. The aluminium buckle clip has also been strengthened since last years TV.2 skates. Ground Control are also on board with the exclusive ‘Loco’ embossed yellow Featherlite 2 frames fitted as standard(please note: a boot-only option is not available for this skate at the moment). The Valo Roll comes with LocoSkates 56mm 88a wheels in an anti-rocker set up with Ground Control grind-wheels in the middle to help you slipperty slide without any sticky icky icky-ness.
Here’s the spec:

Mina Bihi is a local Liverpool freelance photographer and an old friend of mine from my soundsystem days. Last year Mina came to SJXI and captured a ton of images which were due to grace the online click sites of Liverpool promoting the event to a wider public audience. Unfortunately Mina’s hard drive had other ideas and ate the images (and most of her work) before she had a chance to upload them. The good news is that after a long time in rehab the hard drive coughed up and released some of the images. Here’s just a small selection of the cough up capturing theRollingART session and Afterparty, stay tuned to her FLICKr account HERE for more uploads and why your looking check out her other captures.

The NEWBLOOD session is a great addition to this years SJXII and will help qualify rollers through to the AIL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS in 2011. This session is aimed at highlighting the growing numbers of rollers we have in the 4 Nations that are aged 15&Under. Over the course of 2010 and the run up to SJXII in OCT there will be qualifiers held at other rolling events throughout the UK & Eire. The first qualifier was held at Sheffields “House Skatepark” as part of the “NOIYA JAM” in April this year which saw over 16 rollers compete for 4 spaces in the final at SJXII. The next qualifier is to be held at “Evolution Skatepark” in Scotland as part of the “WESTCOAST CLASH” on 24/25th July 2010 (CHECK FLYER). The top 4 15&under rollers from the WCC session will qualify for the final @ SJXII on 15/16/17th OCT 2010 and join CAMERON ALWAY, HARRY FEARNALL, CHARLIE BIRCH & GUY SMITHERS. There will only be a 20 spaces available in the FINAL and 4 have all ready been taken, so if your 15yrs old or under get yourself along to the WESTCOAST CLASH and try and secure a spot.

The 6th of July is just another day for some around this world, but for other’s it’s a day to celebrate and remember. On the 6th of July 1981 RICHARD JOHN TAYLOR was born in a small place called Barry in South Wales. For those of us who knew Richard we could all tell you what an amazing inspiration, friend and all round legend he was. I just like to remember him on this day as he is greatly missed but never forgotten.
I hope your well friend and I’ll see you someday.

Adam Kola is by far one of the leading “ROLLING” visual capture experts world wide, his work has helped document the birth and development of the UK scene for many years. With his images ending up in rolling press such as Unity, Amatuer, Roll2Soul, Be-Mag, Rolls, Dailybread, One mag and his own Kingdom its hard not to have seen his work. This year I’ve teamed up with theORACLE to create something a bit more personnel and rewarding at SJXII. Following the RollingART theme these three images of Nick Lomax, Oli Short and Chaz Sands (all shot in Liverpool) will form part of the first place awards at SJXII in the Open, Female and New Blood comps. So the winners will not only win an award for there skills but take home a piece of history and a KOLA original. If you havn’t yet visited theORACLE’s website then check out www.adamkola.com

Promotion for SJXII is well under way and has been since the start of 2010. For this year’s promotion I’m to trying to incorporate a lot more visual art into the process. Pasteups take me back to the early 90s of my club/soundclash days but they always look sick when dashed up on vacant sites or disused space.
My son gave me an idea one evening by plundering a box of old skates I have and partnering them with his clonewars helmet. This idea led me to hook up with fellow rollerblader and photographer Jennifer Mckevitt (Check the ART page for more info) and some of the local hero’s for a studio session. The hope is that by creating something that stand’s out and not just your normal club/event poster it will create public interest in Rolling and the SlamJamm in the Liverpool area. The images you see above are the results of Jenn’s eyes and my graphic tweeks, these will be dashed up at rolling events attended and around the city over the coming months.
Stay tuned for more news on the ROLLINGART side of SlammJamm as the next few weeks approach.

SLAMMJAMM XI : AIL SESSION LOOKBACK from Slamm Jamm on Vimeo.
SlammJammXI last year was one of the European qualifiers for the AIL WORLD 2010 Championships which are held on 22/23/24th OCT this year at WOODWARD WEST Camp. For the last 11yrs SJ has been about developing and growing the UK Rolling community using the event to highlight and draw attention to the AM & Pro talent we have in the UK.
The addition of the AIL qualifier over the last two years has meant great progress for some of the UKs/Europes AM Rollers.
SJXII 15/16/17th OCT 2010 will be the 3rd year in a row that we will have an AIL qualifier. This qualifier will be the first for the 2011 WORLD Championships, a whole 12 months before the event. Also this year we will not only be qualifying Top Males and Females but we will have a 15 & Under qualifier so stay tuned to slammjamm.com (REFRSH SITE DROPPING SOON) for further details.
For now enjoy the lookback and stay tuned for our final look back edit dropping soon.

Jake Eley has been rolling for enough years and has been part of the UK scene for time, when he developed LOCOSKATES it was a major risk in harsh times. But the proof is that if you stick by your values you will succeed, hence LOCO took home Shop of the Year Award 2009 at the UK Rolling Awards. One thing is for certain that Mr Eley knows the importance of developing and investing that’s why he added Guy Smithers to his lockdown team.
Enjoy the edit.;

NIMH had some good influx at this years SJXI two of there UK rippers walked away with top honours. Firstly Mike Salt with the BEST TRICK award and then Sam LOCO Tuffnell with the top spot in the AIL AM Contest. Not only was it good for the home crowd the NIMH euro’s were also in town such as Marc Moreno and Gabriel Hayden all steered by the piped pepper himself Oli Short. NIMH just dropped this PDF which you can download HERE outlining there time at SJXI and soon to come with there SLAMMJAMM edit.

Are you going to Winterclash? from Kingdom Magazine on Vimeo.
Adam Kola is not only a dam good photographer, part of the Kingdom squad, honoured at the 2009 UK Rolling Awards, powerslides UK stone and a double of Cat Stevens, he’s also great at being a visionary. He recently purchased a new toy and has been rapidly coming to grips with not just capturing images through the lens but clips also. Here he collects what I think a few people sometimes overlook at SJ events the sense of commUNITY. Check it as he ask the heads at SLAMMJAMM 11 “ARE YOU GOING TO WINTERCLASH”
