Since our last issue, we have been to the smoke-filled paradise that is the Netherlands to attend Winterclash. It was a great experience, as always, and we got to spread the word about Wheel Scene by handing out copies to anyone that had an empty hand. However, it was also quite a humbling experience. Despite the fact that we have been working tirelessly on the publication for a year, very few people were actually aware that it existed and many people thought that it was:
A one-off publication that we had just created for Winterclash.
Something they would have to part ways with some cash to pick up a copy.
Just a “British” thing, as one cheeky little monkey suggested.
Well, we were happy to advise that Wheel Scene is completely free and always will be, we will endeavour to make sure we release a new issue every couple of months (give or take a couple of weeks) and it features rollerblading and music from all over the world. If you want some proof, just take a look through these pages. We have interviews with bladers from England, Switzerland, Italy, Brazil and Australia, as well as features on some of the best up-and-coming acts from all over the world. Over cover boy, and what a striking cover boy he is, comes all the way from Finland and he makes the kind of intense techno that was designed to make you defecate all over your underwear. That’s right, it’s that brutal.
Anyway, enough with the romance, let’s get down to business. Wheel Scene Issue 6 has over 16 interviews. That’s right folks, sixteen and counting. We’re not holding back on content because we believe you should have enough to last you until the next copy of our beloved publication falls into your hands. Plus, we’ve got the usual columns and album reviews thrown in for good measure. Don’t try to read it all once, it might cause a brain embolism.

Catchup Catchup, to many responsibilities, life and future have been playing there part lately in me updating the site, but finally I have a breathing space of time. Onward and upward, theNewblood qualifiers have already started with the first session going down as part of the annual Kaltik Paddys Day Jam in Dublin on the 18th March.
Congratulations goes out to 1st place Jordan Ionita ( 11yrs) & 2nd place Sean Micthell(12yrs) for taking the first two places at theNEWBLOOD finals on Sat 13th @ SJXIIII. Check out this fresh edit from Jordan and stay tuned for a Paddys day edit soon.
LOCOSKATES.COM Jake Eley & Crew have been upgrading there new space over the past few weeks, go check out www.locoskates.com and stay tuned for there new website to drop soon. It’s good to see progression and growth in our community.
“We are getting a new shop WHEYYY! Our new bigger, better shop is situated just 5 doors up from our old shop and is at 15 Station Parade, Eastbourne. Our high street store will be closed from 25th March – 30th March while we move. THIS WILL NOT AFFECT WEB ORDERS IN ANY WAY. The new shop, opening Saturday 31st March will provide a less cluttered shopping experience for our high street customers but will also advantage our online customers because we will be able to hold more stock, have better control and accuracy with stock and will allow us to implement our new live stock system in a couple of months once our new website is up! Onwards and upwards”.
Talking about progression Jake Ricketts (3rd place SJXIII & WC 2012Am finalist) just dropped a smash and grab edit at his local “theBoneyard” filmed & edited by Andrew Lawrence. There’s a fair bit of focus on this future pride so no doubt he’ll be adding more to his backup list to join Rollkings and Boneyard in the coming months.
It’s approaching that time of year again for the annual trip across the snake to the steel city to theHouse Skatepark. The NOIYA jam will be taking place on 28th April 2012 and it’s also the second Newblood 15yrs&under qualifier. So if your able to get there make the trip as its always a good gathering and session and checkout the event page and info by clicking the header banner above.
Over the Xmas period RAZORS.co.uk ran a competition via there site and fb page to give away a pair of the new Dre Powell skates. The lucky winner was none other than Joe Harvey. Joe is no stranger to SlammJamm and a windfall of a new pair of Dre’s came at a good time as he was skint from his mega travels and snow adventures throughout 2011. Check out this edit of him rinsing his local spot in Saffron Walden as he puts the Dre’s to good use.
Wheel Scene Issue 5 is out today/tomorrow in the UK and worldwide before the end of the week.
To kick off 2012, we hooked up with some of the most exciting blading talent in the world, including England’s Alex Burston, Italy’s Nicola Fiorenza, Belgium’s Stephane Mosselmans and many more.
We also speak with a bunch of artists, including The Twilight Sad, Howler, Drums of Death, Kwes and several other acts that look set to take this year by storm.
There are also the usual columns, album reviews, DVD reviews and some other little treats for your reading pleasure.
Chaz Sands is noted for being one of our comUNITYs assets, not only is he killer on the boots but he’s a dab hand with a fisheye. Unit23 Skatepark in Dumbarton has been his stomping ground for many a year and in that time plenty of talent has emerged from them Halls. Chaz just dropped an edit featuring many of the Razor kids and a few of the new Talent that glasgow is brewing.
Graham Bewdley is the man behind 3riderTV, a Rollerblader, Visual Capture Specialist & VW Freak at the weekends. More than two years ago before SJ11 I received an email from the said Mr Bewdley outlining an idea for an insight into SLAMMJAMM. At this point I thought he had robbed my ideas book which I’ve had for the last 10years or so were I scribble and develop for SJ. Fresh was the idea that since SJ12 we have been filming and capturing elements and the important commUNITY structure within SLAMMJAMM. We are continuing to do so through this year and hopefully by SJ14 you’ll be able to see the full film. For now take a gander at this small insight and reflection of whats to become.
Since starting the NEWBLOOD sessions over two years ago now, progression has been solid in our 15years & under commUNITY. It seems the NEWBLOOD series is becoming a focal point for a fair amount of peeps out there. This year we not only want to encourage the Male Newbloods but also the Female Newbloods. Hence why we will be holding Male & Female Newblood qualifiers at some of our communities best rolling events throughout the NATIONFOUR . The top two Male & Female from the 10 qualifying sessions will find themselves in the NEWBLOOD FINALS @ SJ14 on 12/13/14th OCT 2012. Inspiration is a massive word but the likes of Newblood Finalists such as Tony Hoggan, Dano Gorman,Dominic Bruce,Charlie Turner, Jack McKell, Paul Brown, Matty Levelle (to name a few) are all positive inspiration to why I will continue to develop this series as part of SLAMMJAMM.
Keep an eye out at your local retailer/outlet and skatepark for the new SJ14 flyer which will be dropping the first week of feb (PLENTY OF NOTICE IM GIVING YOU ALL). Also stay tuned for the news on all the NEWBLOOD qualifiers this year around the Nation Four.
Newblood is the future finds, in 2011 Matty Levelle won the SJ13 NEWBLOOD FINALs. Here we see Matty drop his first ever edit via the skills of Ricky Johnston. Enjoy and look out for this 14year old.

No doubt Miss O’Donoghue will be tearing up comps and sessions in 2012.
Ed Inglis invites you along for the ride on our monumental LoveScotland Tour from Spring 2011. In our first in-house DVD production Inglis documents the biggest inline skate tour the UK has seen in years (possiby ever!). The notorious LocoSkates team was out in full force for 8 days straight of skating hard, picking up a bunch of friends along the way. Even Valo Pro Erik Bailey flew over from the states to come skate, hang-out and tour with us! Don’t miss out on Erik grinding shit, Lomax jumping off shit, Atkinson falling into shit and a bunch of sick guys, err, not really giving a shit.
Bonus material includes a brand new Leon Humphries section, B-roll footage, unused footage and promo material. All in all the dvd features over an hour of original, new footage from the UK skate scene.
Rollkingsmay be one of youngsters on the block but they have already established themselves in the support and events stakes over the past 2years.
