On 6th July 1981 Richard John Taylor was born, today would have been his 32nd Birthday. I know I will never ever forget Richard and I know there are many of us world wide that still hold him in our hearts. He was one of them unique people who’s legacy will live on forever. One way his legacy lives on is through the RJT Scholarship which is awarded at SlammJamm to a rollerblader we feel deserves some support and belief. Since its inception at SlammJamm 11 ( 2009 ) the RJT Scholarship Award has helped Joe Atkinson (SJ11), Rosie O’Donoghue (SJ12), Sam Brookfield (SJ13) and Jack Swindells (SJ14). All have attended major rolling events via the Scholarship and have taken Richards legacy and memory with them. At this year’s SlammJamm15 and for all the years that follow a percentage of the door tax will go into the RichardTaylor Trust which funds the Scholarship award, that means everyone who attends SJ and pays to enter the event bladers, spectators, parents etc is helping to keep his memory alive and growing. We will also be doing other fundraising activities over the course of the weekend to help fund the Scholarship for this years SJ15 Awardee so keep and eye out for news and updates on the site.
